I'm very cynical about deaths of famous people. It was quite a shock finding out Steve Jobs died, but I think it took me about 6 seconds to get over it. Considering this person inhabits my brain about 3 times a year for a combined time of a minute, I feel like I can avoid one of those heart worming 'R.I.P Steve Jobs' status updates on Facebook. What are they trying to achieve by it anyway? Do they want people to 'Like' it? Is a half-arsed eulogy something you like? It reminds me of that scene in Borat when the hotel receptionist tells him that his wife died and Borat gives him a high-five.
Cynicism aside, I think we can learn two things from this: One, I can even make the death of a once in a generation genius all about me. And two, that even in these modern times there are still some things money can't buy. So take a moment to forget your lack of billions in the bank and appreciate your good health. Well, at least YOU can. I have eye allergy.
