The Last Stoke

The Last Stoke

I had my dad here for the last 4 days, so I got very low mileage on my new Intuos 4 Tablet. Today I had some time to really sit and concentrate on my new strip for Alondon Magazine. It takes time to get used to a new tablet- the pressure is different, the surface is different, the express keys are different - so when finally I got the first panel pretty much the way I wanted I was quite pleased with myself. And so I went to colouring.
Now you see, in order to save time I set up an automatic action that colours in selections. It's long and boring but makes colouring cartoons much easier. All I need to do is click the action icon and wham- job done. The problem is I have a few other actions set up for different things, such as my book that I hope will come out this summer, all of which are very badly named. One of them takes your file, shrinks it by about a third, saves it and closes it. Guess which one I pressed?

From a large, print quality file all I was left with was this:

This is not a thumbnail, this is 100%. For glossy magazine print. God dammit.
It's always good to have a self-destruct button when you're working on Photoshop. You never know.
