You've Got a Friend In Me

You've Got a Friend In Me

I try to read other webcomics, one of them being PvP by Scott Kurtz. I even bought one of his books, a rarity in this medium of free art.
A few days ago I logged on to his site and was surprised to see a strip about a font film named 'Helvetica', which has been an inspiration for one of my own strips. I couldn't help feel a special connection between us, two cartoonists with a passion for fonts. One of them a professional artist with thousands of hits every day and a big, loyal audience, and the other a design student with a strip read by a loyal audience of his mum.
In one of his podcasts Scott Kurtz was discussing fans who read his comic every day, and are under the false conception that they are in fact friends, and tend to harass him online and in conventions. 'I'm not one of them' I told him as I slipped naked into his bed in the middle of the night.
