A privilege reserved for women
It was during our weekly History of Art lecture when I noticed an interesting installation. It was ‘the Dinner Party’ by Judy Chicago, which is a celebration of strong women and feminism everywhere. What it is, really, is a vagina-shaped table full of vagina-shaped dishes, served on vagina-shaped plates. Yes, it is an all-out vagina fest.
Personally I think that women who have nothing else to offer to the art world use vaginas as last resort, but this particular work made me wonder how can I, as a man, celebrate being a man and what it represents in modern society.
Apparently it means you’re gay.
